The East Rockingham Waste to Energy Project is a 300,000 tonne-per-annum facility. It is the first Australian project of its kind, generating 29MW of base load renewable power and a 96% diversion of residual waste from landfill. The project is a key development for Western Australia to expand on renewable solutions and achieve key environmental goals.
Qetra’s scope of works commenced with construction of the Main Pipe Rack. Due to its successful execution, additional packages were awarded, including carbon & stainless-steel piping fabrication, structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) construction of the Air-Cooled.
Condenser, including fans and cooling bundles, and SMP construction of the Waste Bunker, Tipping Hall, WSC and Turbine Hall buildings.
Fabrication was completed at Qetra’s Wangara facility, which also supported construction through urgent fabrication and rectification of free issued materials. Innovative solutions were implemented, such as the design and fabrication of an integrated lifting frame for efficient debunking of structural steel containers. This services as a demonstration of Qetra’s ability to be the turnkey solution for project design, fabrication and construction requirements.
